By the end of the massacre, 1,500 people had lost their lives, and 1,200 were injured. General Dyer was ultimately disgraced for this shameful episode in British imperial history.”

He further emphasized, “In 2019, then-Prime Minister Theresa May acknowledged this as a stain on British colonial rule in India. As the anniversary approaches on April 13, during Parliament’s recess, could we have a government statement acknowledging what went wrong and formally apologizing to the people of India?”
