Badshah Directed to Secure ₹2.20 Crore in Arbitration Dispute
Karnal, July 22, 2025:
In a significant commercial dispute, the Hon’ble Commercial Court (ADJ-1), Karnal, has directed rapper-singer Aditya Prateek Singh, popularly known as Badshah, to secure a sum of ₹2.20 crore through fixed deposits. This comes as interim protection in an arbitration case filed by a petitioner firm.
The case relates to a “Producer & Line Producer Work for Hire Agreement” signed on June 30, 2021, for the music video “Baawla”. While the video was released on July 28, 2021, the petitioner alleged that Badshah failed to pay dues amounting to over ₹2 crore, with the total claim reaching nearly ₹2.88 crore, including interest and other charges.
Earlier, Badshah had deposited an FDR of ₹1.70 crore. However, considering the petitioner’s total claim, the court has now ordered him to provide an additional ₹50 lakh within 60 days.
The court observed that Badshah’s conduct suggested a possibility of disposing of assets to avoid payment, which could cause irreparable loss to the petitioner. Consequently, the court restrained any encashment or encumbrance on both FDRs.
This interim order ensures security until the arbitration proceedings reach their conclusion.
