In the Punjabi film industry director, Avtar Singh marks his presence significantly. He directed many movies of different genres. firstly he got recognition from his debut Punjabi movie “Mitti Na Pharol Jogiya” in 2015. This was the out-of-the-box subject at that time.“Mitti Na Pharol Jogiya” in 2015 supported the topic of activities that happened between 1947 to 1951 in Punjab was unlike usual comedy tales of Punjabi movies. This film was an excellent hit at the box office and he’s the sole one who tried to try to do something better for the Punjabi cinema.

Avtar Singh comes from a background based in Mumbai. In his early life, there is a lot of struggle. but he gained many things. He has worked with noted Bollywood movie director Anurag Basu. Ranbir Kapoor starred movie “Barfi” was made under his supervision. In 2015 he moved to Punjab and with his debut film he successfully marked his presence.

Avtar Singh was born on 5th January 1974 at village Chhajli, Distt. Sangrur. His mother’s name is Malkeet Kaur and his Father’s name is Tek Singh. He is married and has 2 children.
He got his master’s degree in MA theatres and TV.

Career

Where mostly Punjabi movie directors have a tendency to make a film with any popular singer. Avtar Singh has a totally different approach regarding this. Although “Mitti Na Pharol Jogiya” was his debut film but still he didn’t choose any singer in his casting. It was very risky at that time to make a film without a popular singer. he feels that everybody who knows cinema well maybe a person who should bear a talent of “acting” particularly. In the future, if he found any singer with acting skills, he will defiantly work with an equivalent person. He said Japtej Singh is still his best actor.
