Punjab Government Refuses Security for Artists Amid Rising Gangster Threatstle:

The increasing involvement of gangsters in the Punjabi music industry is creating serious concern and is negatively impacting Punjabi music. Reports suggest that the number of extortion and threat calls being received by Punjabi singers has been rising rapidly in recent times.

Despite the growing danger, the Government of India has not taken any strong or effective steps to address the issue. Meanwhile, instead of strengthening security arrangements for artists, the Punjab Government has reportedly started withdrawing security from several singers.

According to sources, popular Punjabi artists Gippy Grewal and Jordan Sandhu, who are known to have political connections, recently had their security removed even though they have been receiving threat calls for a long time.

In addition, reports have surfaced that several emerging artists—who are currently building their careers in the Punjabi music industry—have also been denied security by the government, despite already being targeted by gangsters through extortion and threat calls.

The safety of Punjabi singers is now becoming a major issue across India. Sources claim that many new artists are feeling unsafe and are being forced to step away from the music industry due to the government’s failure to provide adequate protection.
