What happens when a family’s idea of legacy takes an unexpected turn?
 Thaapi follows Bhakhtaur Singh, a 70-year-old undefeated wrestler whose sporting legacy faces an unusual challenge. When his family hopes for a male heir, his daughter-in-law Kammo chooses a different path, she brings together six village girls and forms a kabaddi team. What begins as a fight to prove their potential soon becomes a larger journey of courage, identity and family pride.

Set against the earthy backdrop of Punjab, the film revolves around Bhakhtaur Singh, a respected wrestler who has spent his life building a sporting legacy. But when that legacy seems unlikely to continue in the traditional way he imagined, Kammo steps forward with an idea of her own. Instead of waiting for the next male heir, she creates an opportunity for six village girls to step onto the kabaddi field.
Their journey is not simply about sport. It becomes a test of determination, family relationships and the meaning of carrying a legacy forward. The story eventually builds towards a major sporting challenge against New Zealand’s national kabaddi team, giving the village girls a stage much bigger than they initially imagined.

Thaapi brings together Neeru Bajwa, Sunny Singh, Hashneen Chauhan, Sawan Rupowali, Simran Chahal, Nikita Grover, Pawan Johal, Parveen Khan and Sukhwinder Chahal. The film is written and directed by Jagdeep Warring, with Amanpreet Singh as producer. It is presented by Smarters Films in association with Neeru Bajwa Entertainment. The movie also signifies Sunny Singh’s debut in Punjabi cinema, adding an intriguing dimension to the cast.
