Chakkven: A Powerful Punjabi Family Drama of Relationships, Revenge and Second Chances

Release Date: November 20, 2026 | Director: Happy Rode | Starring: Kartar Cheema and Vishal Brar

Punjabi cinema continues to explore stories that connect deeply with audiences through family values, emotions, village life and powerful characters. Adding to this journey is Chakkven, an upcoming Punjabi feature film that promises an engaging story of family relationships, past conflicts and the desire to begin life again. Directed and written by Happy Rode, the film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on November 20, 2026, under the banner of White Notes Entertainment.

A Family’s Struggle, Loss and Second Chances:

Chakkven revolves around a respected Punjabi village family whose life takes a tragic turn following the death of their eldest son, Guri, due to local political rivalries. The incident leaves a deep impact on the family, changing the lives of those left behind. After spending seven years in prison, Sukha, played by Kartar Cheema, returns home with the hope of starting a new chapter in his life. Meanwhile, Guri’s younger brother Jassa, portrayed by Vishal Brar, also tries to move away from village conflicts and make better choices. Their journey brings family emotions, difficult circumstances and the challenges of leaving the past behind into focus.

A Story of Family, Conflict and New Beginnings:

At the heart of Chakkven is a story that explores how one incident can change an entire family’s life. The film brings attention to the emotional struggles of people caught between family responsibilities, village rivalries and personal decisions. Sukha’s return after seven years in prison becomes an important turning point, as he looks forward to rebuilding his life. At the same time, Jassa’s attempt to leave his troubled past behind adds another interesting dimension to the narrative. With its village-based setting and themes of relationships, political rivalry and second chances, the film aims to present a story that connects with the realities of family and community life.

An Ensemble Cast and Creative Team:

The film features Kartar Cheema and Vishal Brar in the lead roles, along with Raman Shergill, Gurnaaz Chahal, Japppneeet, Baljinder Bains, Balwinder Dhaliwal and Sanju Solanki. Poonam Sood, Jim Sharma and Rahul Jungral will also make special guest appearances. Chakkven, produced by White Notes Entertainment, is written and directed by Happy Rode. The film features music created by The Junior and Money Auja, introducing another artistic aspect to the production. The track Punjab Disda has been launched as well, providing listeners a preview of its musical aspect.

Why Chakkven Is Worth Looking Forward To:

What makes Chakkven compelling is its emphasis on a family coping with grief while seeking a path ahead. Instead of concentrating on a single character, the narrative unites various personal experiences influenced by the same tragic event. The characters of Kartar Cheema and Vishal Brar offer two distinct viewpoints in the story, rendering their journeys a vital element of the film. With Happy Rode handling both writing and direction, an ensemble cast and a storyline built around family, conflict and fresh beginnings, Chakkven is an upcoming Punjabi film to keep an eye on.
