Two Faces, Two Completely Different Worlds:
What happens when two sisters share the same face but almost nothing else? Patakka Guddiyan revolves around twin sisters Roohi and Mahi, whose personalities are poles apart. One is calm, the other fiery; one brings warmth, the other brings chaos. Set against the familiar world of Punjabi families, relationships, celebrations and emotions, the film turns their contrasting personalities into the heart of an entertaining family story.
A Dream That Began at Home:
Some films begin with a script. Patakka Guddiyan began with a feeling, and with a father’s wish. At the center of this journey are real-life sisters Dr. Mandeep Kaur and Komaljit Kaur Gill, who came together with a shared dream of bringing a meaningful, entertaining concept to Punjabi cinema. What started as a promise to fulfil their father’s wish gradually grew into an ambitious cinematic project.
And perhaps that is what makes the film’s premise feel especially personal. On screen, there are two sisters trying to navigate a world full of differences. Behind the screen, two sisters have worked together to turn their family’s dream into reality.
When Identical Faces Create Completely Different Worlds:
Roohi and Mahi may look exactly alike, but their personalities could not be further apart. Their contrasting nature becomes the film’s biggest source of humor, confusion and emotion. Through their journey, Patakka Guddiyan explores something beautifully familiar:
How people from the same family can grow into completely different individuals.
Around the twins comes a lively world of relationships, celebrations, misunderstandings and family moments, creating space for both laughter and emotion. Rather than simply relying on the “identical twins” idea, the film uses it to explore individuality, family bonds and the unpredictable chemistry of living under one roof.
A Strong Ensemble Behind the Story:
Directed by Dr. Mandeep Kaur and Lovejinder Singh Johal, the film brings together an ensemble of familiar faces. Hashneen Chauhan takes on the challenging dual role of Roohi and Mahi, bringing two contrasting personalities to life. She is joined by Malkit Rauni, Tarsem Paul, Anita Meet, Upasana Singh, Sanju Solanki, Pranav Vashisht, Anshul Bhammi, Kulvir Soni, Deepak Niaz, Malkit Gill, Parminder Gill, Harpreet Kaur and Puneet.
The film’s cinematography has been handled by Rupinder Rupi and Arvind Singh, while Rohit Dhiman takes charge of editing. The production involved two major schedules and one minor schedule, with nearly four hours of footage eventually shaped into a roughly two-hour cinematic experience. Post-production was completed at Trisha Studios.
Why Watch Patakka Guddiyan?
Because sometimes the most entertaining family stories are the ones that feel a little familiar. Patakka Guddiyan offers a blend of Punjabi humor, familial emotions, festivities, relationships, and the charming chaos produced by two identical appearances with entirely distinct personalities. Behind the humor lies a touching tale of two sisters who pursued their father’s dream and an entire team that contributed to its cinematic realization.
With its twin-led premise and family-oriented setting, the film is poised to offer audiences a colorful, emotional and entertaining Punjabi ride. Produced under Ishanya Studios, Patakka Guddiyan is set to arrive in cinemas worldwide on 30 October 2026.
